Discreet AV that enhances your interior design
iHav partners with interior designers on high-end residential projects. We design and install discreet audio-visual systems that support your scheme, rather than compete with it.
If you are looking for an AV partner for interior design projects, we can help you integrate technology quietly and elegantly.
Technology should disappear. Your design should shine.
When AV is treated as “boxes to fit in later”, it can undermine even the best interiors:
- TVs dominating carefully composed feature walls
- Visible speakers and equipment fighting with finishes and furniture
- Cables and brackets appearing at the last minute
Our approach is design-led. We design AV around your scheme, not the other way round.
Our design principles for interior designers
Minimal visual impact
- Preference for in-ceiling, in-wall or invisible speakers
- Hidden racks and equipment wherever possible
- Discreet control interfaces and minimal wall clutter
Respect for sightlines and focal points
- TV and speaker placement that respects focal walls, artwork and symmetry
- Avoiding the “black hole” effect of a large TV dominating a beautifully designed room
Material and finish coordination
- Coordinating with joinery, wall finishes and fabrics
- Colour-matching visible elements where possible
- Using grills, frames and panels that sit comfortably within your palette
Cable-free feel
- Early planning of power and data to avoid trailing cables and surface trunking
- Using recesses, conduits and furniture to hide infrastructure
Client-friendly simplicity
- Systems designed so clients can operate them easily
- Fewer remotes, fewer boxes, fewer points of confusion
Our aim is that when someone walks into the room, they notice your design – not our equipment.
How we work with your studio
Step 1 – Design review
We start by understanding your scheme:
- Mood boards, finishes and colour palettes
- Room layouts, focal points and sightlines
- Key design features such as bespoke joinery, feature walls and lighting concepts
We then identify where AV is needed (TVs, audio, WiFi, control) and how to integrate it discreetly.
Step 2 – Options and suggestions
We propose solutions that respect your design:
- Speaker options: invisible, in-ceiling, in-wall or carefully chosen on-wall
- TV solutions: recessed, framed, concealed in joinery or designed as a considered focal point
- Control options: minimal keypads, app-based control, integration with existing switches where appropriate
You remain in control of the aesthetic. We bring technical options that fit.
Step 3 – Technical coordination
We handle the technical detail with the wider team:
- Power and data locations planned to avoid visible cables
- Coordination with architect, M&E and joiner on recesses, brackets and ventilation
- Clear information for contractors so your design intent is protected on site
Step 4 – Installation and handover
- Careful installation with respect for finishes and furnishings
- Testing and commissioning to ensure everything works as intended
- Client training so they feel confident using the system (and do not need to call you when the remote confuses them)
Design-led AV examples
Living room – TV without the “black box” feel
- TV recessed into a feature wall with a slim, colour-matched frame
- In-ceiling speakers aligned with lighting for a clean ceiling grid
- Equipment hidden in a nearby cupboard; no visible boxes or cables
Open-plan kitchen / dining / living
- Invisible or paintable in-ceiling speakers providing even background audio
- Subwoofer hidden within banquette seating or cabinetry
- WiFi access points concealed to maintain clean lines
- Simple scene control for “Cooking”, “Dining” and “Entertaining”
Cinema and media rooms
- Speakers hidden behind acoustically transparent fabric or integrated into wall panelling
- Dark, non-reflective finishes to support picture quality and your design concept
- LED lighting integrated into the design and controlled as part of the AV system
These examples show how high-end residential AV can sit quietly in the background while still delivering a strong experience.
Ongoing support and partnership for designers
We aim to be your long-term AV partner, not just a one-off contractor.
Design-stage support
- Early input on new projects where AV is likely to feature
- Quick sense-checks on layouts where you are unsure how to handle technology
- Help turning a client’s “we want a cinema” brief into something realistic and design-friendly
CPD-style and inspiration sessions
We can provide informal or structured sessions for your studio on topics such as:
- Designing with invisible and discreet speakers
- Hiding TVs and equipment in living spaces and bedrooms
- What “smart home” really means for interiors and client expectations
Sessions can be held in your studio, online or at a demo space, with a focus on design implications rather than heavy technical detail.
Showroom and manufacturer visits
We can arrange:
- Private visits to demo cinemas and smart home showrooms
- Manufacturer tours where you can see and hear solutions in context
- Joint client visits so they can experience options before committing
